yoga for parkinson’s
I am very pleased to be sharing my yoga practice and teaching with a wonderful group of folks who belong to PD (Parkinson’s Disease) Active. These students have Parkinson’s Disease, and come to the practice each week to stretch and strengthen their bodies. We laugh together and support one another during this adapted yoga practice. The emphasis of our work is on opening and stretching against rigidity; breathing and linking together fluid movement; working with balance; and practicing relaxation. Working adaptively and therapeutically with this group has increased my understanding of yoga and strengthened my teaching immeasurably.
This class meets every Tuesday from 3:00pm to 4:15pm and Thursday from 1:30pm to 2:45pm, at the Piedmont Yoga Studio. Yoga for PD brings free, accessible yoga classes to the east bay Parkinson’s community in a safe, gentle environment. The class is funded by a grant from the Yoga Dana Foundation.
